• Class 8 trucks: Most of the time you see trucks flying down the highway you just want to get out of the way, but there’s a lot to learn about fuel economy and aerodynamics there

One of the saddest things about blogging is that there’s never time to talk about everything you want to. It’s a good thing, then, that there are lots of other people out there talking about things, too. I’ve decided to complement the Sunday Forum Roundup by doing a net-wide roundup on Saturdays for you casual weekend browsers. Every week I will be sharing my favorite stories from EcoModder and beyond. If you have any more suggestion, post them in the comments!

• Shai Agassi’s plan to put electric cars on the road: Wired talks to the man himself to put together this very in-depth, well-written article.
• Ford Tests Improve Gas Mileage 24% with EcoDriving: My very own post about Ford’s foray into ecodriving.
• RideTheCity.com: A Google Maps App for Safe Biking: Some neat stuff from TechCrunch about finding safe routes for all you bike commuters out there.
• Toyota iQ: The Smallest Four-Passenger Car in the World: Treehugger brings us the word on one of the most exciting cars to not hit the US market in a long time.

This week a forum member got in touch with me to suggest that I highlight some of the “ecomodders helping ecomodders” type stuff that goes on in real life, outside of the site. So, in addition to the normal links, I’ll toss out some about the recent camaraderie on the forums.

• Metroschultz and Coyote X meet up: Not only was the thrashing epic, but a lot of good work got done.
• Ohio/PA get together: I really with I could make it out to this, because it sounds like a lot of fun, but sadly it’s at a bad time. Luckily a lot of folks will be showing up, so consider it!
• Dealers blame the scangauge for electrical issues: Kind of silly, if you really want to think about it, but it just goes to show how unfamiliar dealerships and mechanics can be with fuel economy displays.
• How to accelerate: An important and ongoing discussion about acceleration techniques and fuel economy.
• AMEC Fuel Economy Run: Personally, I’d prefer a competition based on digital fuel economy readouts rather than fills, but this still looks like it could be good, clean fun.

This is a new thing, but in the interest of getting a little bit more interaction between the forum and the blog, I thought I would start using Sundays to show off some of the forum highlights. Anyway, I’ll try to keep it interesting and not get too deep into the description, but if you’re interested, just click on through to join the discussion!

• Making a permanent Metro kammback: Darin has been working on this project for a while now, but it’s nearly done and promises some good results.
• DIY Moon Discs: An inventive and cheap way to clean up your car’s aero without buying caps or new wheels.
• iDuino MPGuino Update: It seems like the nice folks at Fundamental Logic may be making a custom set up for the MPGuino, which should pretty it up and make it more accessible.
• Smooth wheel covers tested: Some good testing done on the effects of smooth wheel covers on aerodynamics and fuel economy.
