It also has to do with supply and demand, Not many cars here run on diesel so they jump the prices up to make up the difference which in turn makes diesel look like a bad option up front which then makes auto makers think people don't want diesels which then repeats the cycle...but then again...I could be completely wrong, I'm only thinking this through in my head.
