years ago, i had a suzuki swift 1992, four cylinder engine five speed, was my commuter car for work, hot summer time 51mpg if i drove like old man and 35 in cold winter..... gas formulas are figured different now versas years ago. mileages arent as high as could be... i realize the swift was a cheap crappy car but i like it, if it wasnt for the frame rotting out just behind the front wheels i would still be driving it..

The easy question to that is that in America, diesel is required to be low sulfur and is therefore more expensive (IIRC). It also has to do with supply and demand, Not many cars here run on diesel so they jump the prices up to make up the difference which in turn makes diesel look like a bad option up front which then makes auto makers think people don't want diesels which then repeats the cycle...but then again...I could be completely wrong, I'm only thinking this through in my head.

Unreal mileage from the diesel Yaris. The question is why are we stuck with hybrids when we could be driving these killer little diesels?
