Would appreciate input on EV purchase opportunity

Hi folks,

Would appreciate some input from those more expert in EVs than I.

I have an opportunity to purchase a 1990 Honda Civic HB converted to an EV (see Jon Lawrence's 1991 Honda Civic for details). Haven't looked at it yet, but pics seem to show a fairly well built EV. Of course, I really don't have a lot of background with EVs, so I'm not as good of a judge as I ought to be.

The owner says the batteries are only 8 months old, but the motor is dead. He says it needs to be "rewound". Not sure if that is something that should raise a red flag or not. Or if it's something that's gonna cost a lot or not. Will get some more details but would like to get some input from folks here about what I should probe into.

Asking price is $3000, but probably negotiable.

Thoughts?
