I would say he is showing what a correctly conceived car should be able to do without so much effort. It seams Ford did so with its Fusion Hybrid :

Sadly it may be just another hybrid not exported to Europe : only prius II, insight II and Lexus are currently available
As Citroen in its advertisements seams very proud with cars achieving 1400 km (870 mi) per tank, my summer challenge is to achieve a kilo-tank (1609 km) with my 12 years old car.
