I once thought about using old drill batteries to power an EV, from broken drills that I buy... if I could make a casing that they all plugged into, they'd be easy to swap out/replace as necessary. It never went any further than a thought, once I figured out that often, it's cheaper (in relative terms) to buy the drill and battery together than it is to buy the battery alone. At least back when I was thinking about this - dunno about now.
