We looked at the Civic and Fit. The Fit would be great for around town, but the Civic feels more planted and quieter on the freeway. If you need the cargo flexibility, get the Fit. If it's a 2-4 person car, consider a Civic. (I know the Civic AT revs about 500 rpm lower than the MT - I have a MT.) Price-wise the difference isn't that great either...
