I would love to see gas priced, through taxes, according to its environmental impact and projected future scarcity. $6/gal wouldn't be too bad. Sustained high energy prices would encourage innovation and conservation, and they'd be the death of the SUV and of suburban sprawl. Just look at Europe, where gas is $6/gal.
