I wonder if you could cut out a long narrow strip from the discarded air dam and make it fit where you want your grill block.

Another related point - a curved angled surface will be a lot like a windshield. If you unroll the gentle curve of such a piece you'll find that the long "straight" side isn't straight at all. It's curved so that the ends point up (when sloped back like a windshield is). Most air dams and grill blocks etc. will do the same.
