I have a separate build thread. I forgot that I posted that. As I'm building the LED display as a mirrored image, I'm not using a mirror, so that eliminates that double image source.
Another positive thing is that the LED display will be pretty flexible once the finished product is running. If I don't like the windshield reflection, I can just move it closer and use the cantilevered plexiglas idea, or maybe I'll try something else.
And for diffusion, I'm using a cutout of a milk carton. I think it was a pretty thrifty idea. I'm still in the process of making the display, so this project has a long way to go =[
*edit* I've also seen window tint film applied directly to the windshield, but I'm not going to do that. I think it looks tacky.
