Since the rear is the main point of the template it makes sense to fit the car to the rear of the template for sizing and template placement.

The 'Template' must be used exactly like it is represented,matching max. roof camber locations in order for flow attachment and pressure recovery to function properly.
There's no 'wiggle' room.
