james,sorry I've missed all these posts.
You're correct about the cowl area.It's just that GM never mentioned any benefit from it.The burble in front of the windshield may be so expansive,such that the cowl and wipers are both simply embedded within its turbulence.
All the 'features' of the Precept body added only 7 counts (0.007) to the Cd.
