power cycle it to get your second line back, or connect pin 2, and only pin 2, on the lcd to pin 15 on the ardino (aka analog 1), and the code will power cycle the lcd controller for you.
Can you do me a favor and read some/all identifying numbers and words off the back of that LCD? We hoped the LCDs would have been consistent (i.e. default contrast settings would work, etc, etc,) from a given supplier and minimize the problems, but this would seem to blow that assumption out of the water.
