That wire mesh looks about like common window screen.
It might not work real well at highway speeds, due to surface turbulence on the mesh, slowing the air flow.
If it is indeed a small mesh, you could get an idea of how it might work by driving 65 mph while holding an 8"x16" screen (on a frame) outside the window.
