That is definitly looking like a possibility. Over the past 5 years (usa average/ gallon):

August 2003- $1.75
June 2004- $2.05
August 2005- $3.05 (extra high spike because of hurricane katrina)
August 2006-$3.00
May 2007- $3.25
January 2008 - $3.10 (and rising in the summer).
