This drives me nuts as a new member to forums...

I was working on my Mom-in-Law's car and needed an answer that the search function didn't pinpoint at a particular site.

It took the darn place ONE WEEK to approve my account -- this was after e-mailing the site Admin, which the 1000-word agreement expressively prohibited.

It was 6-days late -- I bought a Haynes manual and figured stuff out myself the next day. It would have been nice to save $15.

Rule #1: Welcome every member, uniquely. These are actual people out there, not just print on a screen.

It does take maintenance to point folks to the "common advice" areas with vague questions -- but many are new to forums. A simple "Welcome Mat" goes a long way. All it takes is a little time...
