I really liked the halogens for the low beam cut-off. On low beam, when the car bounces, you can see the line move back and forth on the pavement. On high beam, they have more 'reach' than the LEDs I have now.

The aluminum tape is an attempt to fix the low beam cutoff. As daytime running lights, they are excellent and I do most of my driving in daylight nowadays.
Modern lighting is money well spent!

I've run Hellas on my old pickup since the 90's as they were about the only available at the time. While the Hellas were great back then and are still a great choice, there are others now that are available and that I like better.

If I were to get a new set of housings now, I'd likely go with locally made, VisionX:

Unfortunately, I really need some wiring/alternator upgrades in my truck to really use the higher wattage bulbs. But you shouldn't have that problem with your Prius/truck.

LED replacement lights are really quite awesome now too (not just an LED bulb in a housing) and can produce more light with a better pattern than even most HIDs. The next classic car I work on will likely get a set of these:

as they don't look too goofy but put out a phenomenal amount of light, while only needing a fairly low amperage.
