That's on of the main reasons I hang around on this and a couple of other car forums...it (eventually) gives me the "itch"! Wish I had motor-head friends to do the same.
I suppose you could call it "inspiration"...?

Indeed! On Friday morning. Just in time for the long weekend. I put my almost-new door on that night:
All steel. Commercial grade deadbolt. Lock/jamb protector doohickie.
Still considering adding another layer of defense to it.
Maybe I should have left it rough/unpainted. Now I'm going to have to give the door jamb some attention and paint.
