Ah, the wonder of grainy photography!

Thanks for the bedliner spray idea. The air at the rear of the car certainly wouldn't care whether the paint surface is perfectly smooth or pebbly.

I'm leaning toward the epoxy paint route, but I can see the attraction of something that "hides well" so I don't have to spend a bunch more time doing smoothing bodywork.

But I'm still not going to refinish the thing until next year.
