Make the trailer to be only the bottom section of the extension and build a enclosed shell fer the top that would be attached to the truck. This would allow the trailer to articulate within the top without changing the angle of the top. Of course this would limit the places I could go because of the approach/departure angle of the driveways.

Pix? Here's mine:
The floor of the boat tail pivots up to close the back like a horse trailer or something, and there are double-walled inflatable sections.
The wheelbase was supposed to be variable but I didn't sort out the exhaust system.
I think I stole this from Barbarella.
Also, think armadillo shell.
