A heat-exchanging setup based on coolant fluid recirculating between a trailer-mounted heater core and the exhaust muffler might not really become a danger for carbon monoxide poisoning, but anyway, it would still require thermostatic control to not become excessively hot. Similar setups have been adapted into trucks repowered with air-cooled Deutz engines.
