I have to guess that the problem might well be your driving style. Hereabouts we have actual mountains. I drive in them with the Toyota, often carrying pretty heavy loads of logs, hay, &c. I think I replaced the front pads a few years ago. Rotors are just fine - admittedly it's an '88 and I've only had it for about 100K miles, so I don't know what the previous owner(s) may have done.
