Initially Facebook was pointless because you could only add people that had the same school domain as friends. I'm friends with people other than those I went to school with, so it was annoying. Then there was the whole "poking" thing that was absurd. Later Facebook sold out your info to anyone with a penny to offer.

Myspace was superior in every aspect. You could customize the page because it allowed html code. You could be friends with anyone you wanted, and there was no poking. It had integrated blogging.

I have no idea how Facebook overtook it considering it was late to the game, sucks, and sells your info. Clearly I'm bad at understanding human behavior considering my surprise at the outcome.
