There might be a way to set the ICE to kick in earlier, enabling some more spirited driving (even though it would lead to a penalty in fuel-efficiency).
But anyway, G1 and G2 had a chain in their HSD units, while the G3, G4, c and v don't have it. So maybe it would be less prone to damage...
