Early reporting on start-stop,was that it would improve urban mpg by 7%.
Also,the EPA recommended,that if you idled an engine more than 30-seconds,it was better to stop the engine and restart it.
It's zero-mpg.It's carbon dioxide.It's waste.Entropy.A long list.....................
I can't address the wear issue.Most owners don't own a vehicle long enough to wear anything out.
