Ack! MPG is not linear and not comparable! (Sorry, this is a pet peeve of mine. I am almost the MPG police at this point, lol)

8 MPG = 12.5 gallons per 100 miles
10 MPG = 10 gallons per 100 miles
12 MPG = 8.33 gallons per 100 miles

Moving from 8 to 10 MPG is a savings of 2.5 gallons, but 10 to 12 MPG sees a smaller savings of 1.67 gallons

28 MPG = 3.571 gallons per 100 miles
30 MPG = 3.333 gallons per 100 miles
32 MPG = 3.125 gallons per 100 miles

The differences here are 0.238 and 0.208 gallons respectively.

There are 4 different jumps of 2 MPG and they are all of different values.
