The Golf - '02 Golf GLS TDI
Diesel
90 day: 63.94 mpg (US)

Mongoose - '05 E-bike AWD
90 day: 1810.34 mpg (US)

On a turbo Diesel car it definitely would improve fuel economy.

Otherwise; it would just allow a smaller engine to be used and maintain the same 0-60 as far as I can think of . . . .
