The quality of the "data" on which they're making claims is laughably poor. Any PhD publishing "results" from on-road use of a 20ish year-old, technologically outdated car which isn't even
close to being representative of an average vehicle as the test bed ought to be sent back to school, never mind researching & teaching.
Next, follow the money:

The good professor and/or the university is being paid serious coin from the company trebuchet mentions to produce "research" for them.
Waaaay too many red flags to take this seriously.
