Filled with 87 octane, definitely not E-10 this time. Will try to get the difference quantified soon, need a baseline first. Average speeds were between 65 and 67 mph. From Brush, Colorado, to Lincoln, Nebraska. CV joint makes lots of noise, may not last the winter... No other mechanical changes. This makes over 1,000 miles on the rebuilt engine, and things are looking pretty good so far!

Using 85 octane, probably still E-10 but here they don't mark them so I am unsure. Speeds averaging 60 mph. The last 160 miles were "downhill", headed from Colorado Springs to Brush. During visit in Colorado I slipped on ice and hit a square curb, denting my rim pretty bad. I had been carrying a full-size spare the whole time, so no real change on wheel size. While changing tire, noticed left CV joint boot is trashed. Rats. Other mechanical status unchanged.

Previous tank was E-10 at 89 octane, this one is 89 as well, probably also E-10 but unmarked. First 100 miles were no-wind, while the remaining were strong cross/head winds. I am removing windshield wiper covers, as I am entering snowy conditions. Headed from Brush, Colorado, to Colorado Springs. All mechanical status remain unchanged.

Average speed was 65 mph. Engine idles inconsistently (vroom vroom vroom) and strong fuel smell in exhaust, probably running too rich. The CV joints click when I turn. All seams taped, rear wheel well covers installed (made of cardboard) and windshield wiper cover installed. Main frontal air intake (for radiator) not covered, but all other hood seams taped. First 200 miles on a freshly rebuilt engine.
