Fixed my electrical/charging issue with a new wire between alternator and battery. I think my alternator has been pulling some heavy loads with whatever it has been trying to push voltage to. We will see next tank how things are going.
Winter type weather is here. Freezing AM temps. Snow and winds. I'll try to keep it above 55 MPG through this winter. What ever I end up with will be a baseline for improvements next year. |

Bad week, but I guess not as bad as it felt. My new (6 month old) alternator stopped working and took out my new battery. Battery loss reset my MPGuino tank data. High winds and cold and rain most of the week. Weather, accidents and construction caused re-routes. |

Car pool on board all week. Nasty head winds a few days. Some freeway traffic stoppages this week also. A few cars overheating (not mine of course) and some wrecks. Before now I had great luck with traffic. Summer heat brings out the worst I guess. My engine kill switch broke off. I have a replacement but need time to install it. Also need to check the switch on the clutch down for engine start. It seems to be flaky.

I'm noticing more power and acceleration with the latest changes- Removal of AC belt and new timing belt. Need to lighten my foot and use this new power only for good ;-). I never did check the timing but it appears to be happy. The old timing or cam/belt alignment must have been off a bit.
I'm starting to pass the motor bikes in the overall MPG list. Way cool!!! |

Drove to near by lake for camping on weekend. Grey Goose's first trip other than to and from work.
Timing belt broke on the way to work Monday. Put about 1 extra gallon of gas in the tank just to convince everyone trying to help that it still had gas in it (it had just over 1 gallon when I did this). Hyper milers always know how much gas they have left. I had it towed home took the day off work and replaced the timing belt. Easier than expected. Car runs great now. Has more power but I am noticing knocking. I'll admit I have no idea what the timing was set to before this happened. Probably need to check timing once I get access to a timing light and put it where I want it. Because of the extra gas this tank will be off a bit. I estimated 1 whole gallon. |

Carpool on board 3.5 days our of 5. The point five day drive home was the best this week- no car pool weight, almost empty fuel tank, great tail wind the whole way. Also looks like the light oil is working.

Even with the warm weather the thinner oil seems to be making the engine run cooler. I really need to get working on the grill block with options for when the weather does get really hot. Brakes seem to be ok. I haven't noticed any brake drag. |
