no acetone again. THIS is a surpsise. I got over 24mpg this tank! now when the pump auto stopped he it was pennies from an even number IE no top up. its possible it may have taken MORE gas even 1 more gallon would dramatically upset this number.
but it does raise doubts for sure. I am going to have to go longer with no acetone to insure I get a good solid baseline.
The next tank is probably going to be written off. I am getting my 88 cherokee going again and we suspected its lack of power may have been bad gas. it was over 10 gallons. I refused to throw away $40 worth of gasoline so I put 5 gallons in my Minivan (this one) and 5 gallons in my club wagon along with a bottle of octane booster to compensate if the gas is bad. So far no ill effect but if the gas is bad its going to hurt my fuel economy this upcoming tank.
I am also going to wait longer between fills to dilute the effects of a non topped off fill up. I think the short 5 gallon fills up are too unreliable so I am going to hold on filling up till I am past 200 miles. |

No acetone again. oddly almost the exact same mpg as the last tank. I think I need to wait longer between fills but these shorter fills lower the driving distances. IE the "driving" between the two tanks was nearly identical. |

This tank was Acetone free and almost NO pure city driving. all my normal combined 75% highway 25% city driving that I do.
Now I am going to reserve judgement. I am going to go 2 more tank no acetone to see if the numbers hold and then reintroduce acetone. Its going to kill my average but its going to tell me if its worth doing more precise testing of this acetone stuff.
If the number stay low and then jump up again my first step will be to back off acetone again and see if they go back down again. I will also first find out why my mil is on and see if that could explain this. While its 100% clear the acetone is causing a different in fuel consumption it may not be quite so simply. It could be there is somthing wrong with my car (mil light) and the acetone is "tricking" it into running closer to proper. Once I fix that I will know for sure. |

Acetone used. I am surprised by this tank. I was expecting a lot worse since we went up to the mountains. my MPG usually suffers pretty badly but I was able to do some drafting on the Turnpike and mximized the coast on as many of the very long hills as I could. |
