Maybe my last tank didn't fill all the way as that one hit 24+ mpg's and this one is comparatively low.

Winter finally broke~ we hit 40 degrees over the week. I changed my P&G to pulse in 5th gear even though it is below peak BSFC of the engine. This tank I usually pulsed between 1200 and 2000 rpm. Big mpg improvement, but I'm not sure if its the weather of P&G in 5th gear.

Damn cold (today it was 5 degrees F!).... but this was my first tank with the kill switch. I also think I'm learning more about P&G~ I was using 4th gear and accelerating from 1600 to 2500 rpm (which brings me to about 60mph), then gliding back down to 45. Gas mileage still sucks.

Cold weather. Did lots of P&G without turning the engine off, and I think my mpg was worse as a result.... Idle usually held around 1400 rpm during glides~ probably the computer telling it to idle high to help warm up the engine. Time for a kill switch.

Had the worst snow storm last Friday, and supposedly another one coming today. Lots of 4wd and idleing on congested roads. Also, new tires and cold weather likely having an affect on mpg.

Ran this tank with the EGR blocked. Nolonger stutters during acceration and feels stronger. However, no noticable difference in mpg. That said, weather is getting much colder. Engine temp never rose above 170 on the morning commute. Next mod is to improve the air-damn block, and put some card board over the radiator to ensure proper engine temps.

Sprun a major vacuum leak about 100-150 miles into the tank. Vacuum pressure was unstable and bobbled between 10 and 15 at idle. At about 250-300 miles I discovered it was the EGR. After extensive research, I have decided to block the flow into the intake and experiment with mpg. At about 300 miles I placed a piece of metal and some cork gasgate material between the egr and teh manifold intake pipe. Vacuum is now about 23 at idle, where as the previous max was 19.

First tank with the Vacuum gauge, and I definitely was not using correctly for the first 1/4 tank~ slow acceleration + high RPM's for high vacuum but terrible mpg. Figured it out for the later 3/4 tank and almost earned my way back to 22mpg's. Next tank should be even better.

Installed my home-made tonneau cover last weekend; had about 200-250 miles on the tank before installing the cover. Used almost no power steering this tank. Only turned it on twice; parallel park last Tuesday and wip a U-turn yesterday. This is my best tank ever! Also, I'm at 126,000 miles.

Went hunting so I drove about 150 miles of pure HWY at about 60 mph. No bed cover or airodynamic improvements; the drag is horrible. Time to start the Tonneau Cover.
