Early fill up this time...heading on vacation and want to get fueled up now to avoid having to stop during the trip south. FE is waaay off on this tank. But had to expect it with wife off and no work commute. Absolutely ZERO highway miles on this tank. Everything for nearly two weeks has been local, short trips, stop signs and traffic lights. I think 25-27 or so is about the best I can hope for under those circumstances. Next tanks will have mucho Garden State Parkway/vacation miles on them. Maybe a 33+ mpg tank coming up?

More local and less highway driving on this tank. Still a 500-mile tank...but filled up and found I had less than 1/2 gallon of fuel left! That's cutting it too close. SG showed more than that. Perhaps a discrepancy between the gauge and the pump at fill up? We'll see what happens on next tank.

Good tank. Mainly because much of the driving was highway, taking daily trips to the hospital to visit mom. Next tank will be getting back to normal driving...so expect that I'll be dropping back to the ~30mpg range again until I make more physical changes to the FuguMobile. I think my driving technique has pretty much gotten to the point where there won't be any huge improvements to be made there. Will keep working on it, though 35mpg as a goal is looking more and more unrealistic.

Got disgusted during the middle of this tank after a day of hitting every red light, getting cut-off by every dope pulling out of a side street, finally getting a downhill coast only to have a knucklehead back out of his driveway right in front of me, etc. Well...IT SEEMED THAT WAY, ANYWAY! So how did I respond? By turning into a child and reverting back to my old driving habits for a couple of days. Not proud of it, but there it is. PS: I'm better now.

Ooooh! Just missed my 30mpg goal on this tank. A couple of airport/highway trips helped, but EVERYTHING else was short, little trips to local stores, doctor appointments, etc. AND a stop-n-go trip across the GWB into Manhattan. (Sue has been recuperating from her knee operation, so our daily work commute hasn't been there during any of this tank.) With all the short trips, I guess it could have been worse. Still experimenting with accelerating a little harder during P&G. Still not enough data in to determine to what extent the taped upper-grille helped. Only got a hot engine (205*-210*) once in NYC traffic on a brutal 95* heatwave day.

Ugh! Back down in the 28mpg range. With Sue out from work due to her knee surgery, our regular commute (with some highway) wasn't as big a factor. Very little highway in this tank...lots of small local trips. Still, thought I could keep it above 30mpg. Looks like I need a lot more practice at P&G-ing. I think I'm not gliding long enough in relation to my pulsing. Going to try to be a little more aggressive on the P (rather than slowly accelerating) on this tank. Also going to make a temporary grille block with blue painter tape and monitor what happens under the hood.

Hopefully, 500-mile tanks have now become the rule rather than the exception. MPG was definitely helped by an airport trip on this tank (about 35 miles worth of Garden State Pkwy and highway). But have also gotten a little better with timing lights along my daily commute, as well as experimenting more with P&G. Before P&G, I was pretty much just trying to feather the gas pedal as much as possible. Now that I'm getting the hang of P&G, my individual trips seem to be scoring better MPGs. Could 30mpg be my minimum from now on? No long, unusual highway driving planned for this tank, so we'll see how it goes with the normal commutes.

Another 500-mile tank, although not as nice as the last one. (Of course, we were back to our normal work commutes and errand driving for all these miles.) Considering there wasn't 300+ miles of vacation/highway driving on this tank, have to consider it a success as it's our best MPG to date otherwise. One change made on this tank was that I went to 46psi (from 34) right after the fill up. Didn't do official testing, but the end points after my normal coasts seemed to come easier. We'll see if the MPG increase holds on this tank.

Added ScanGauge (SG) to the Fugu during this tank. A little history: Bought car 12/31/2010 (replacing wasted '98 Plymouth Breeze) thinking I would get decent FE. Was surprised to not even get 19mpg on first tank. Next tank: 19.5! Researched what Camry is supposed to get and luckily stumbled upon EcoModder. Didn't take long to realize that I was a stupid driver (i.e. a normal driver). After a couple of 21mpg tanks, decided to pull the trigger on the SG. Being someone who is ignorant when it comes to how cars and engines work, it was the BEST INVESTMENT I could have ever made! The immediate, real time feedback is amazing in learning proper driving habits.
