Generally...a utility vehicle and mpg test bed with plus 240K miles. After an over enthusiastic camping trip...the trans was replaced. Engine is in good condition...still does over 5K per qt oil. Rust is kept under control by oiling the body work/frame in the fall. Ugly...but keeps on ticking. Good backroads cruiser.
Typical summer mpg has been 31.5. Usual winter mpg has been around 29.
Do not really use driving techniques except for trying to slow down for stop signs if I see them soon enough and using milder acceleration most of the time.
Current Mods:
* replaced OEM wheels/tires with 14" 60 series...same diameter as OEM...pressure at tire max...44 PSI.
* using moly additive in transaxle...rear diff
* engine oil additives
* PCV jar
* DIY VGs...removed due to no gains
* crankcase vac at 4-5 " HG...removed due to no gains
* grill blocked
* lowered air dam
Planned Mods:
* Restore resulted in a couple of 37-38 mpg tanks...but mpg has returned to a lower level due to winter fuel and colder weather?...oil use is about the same. Also testing other fuel additives. Will try Tufoil next summer and maybe a combo of Restore and Tufoil.
* have probably established a 35 mpg summer mixed mpg using 2.5 oz 91 % iso per 10 G...will use same thru winter to see if this will increase typical winter mpg.
...
* TESTING...want to test a 3 to 1 ratio of iso to water...might have seen a gain....now using a 1 to 1 ratio. 100% iso shows no extra gain and is consumed too fast.
