Description: (Struggling with the US units here! Is there no international option for kg and so on?)

This is a Golf Estate, which I think is the same as the Jetta Wagon in the US. I use it for work most days and for general driving around. I'm a plumber so the load area is filled to the load cover level with tools, materials, etc. 170.000 miles on the clock. Generally good condition.

For the past few months I've been plugging it into the mains every night for both the engine pre-heater and to charge the (2) batteries. Almost never use the altenator.
Build Thread:
Current Mods: Low rolling resistance tyres.
Tyres kept at 51psi (3.5 bar)
General maintenance.
Replaced gear oil (VW say you never need to, ha ha!)
Full grille block almost-year-round.
Tried an engine re-map but changed it back to stock.
Alternator 'delete' - two batteries charged from mains.
2kw coolant pre-heater/pump - used year round.
Premium diesel used - Shell Ultimate diesel
Fuel additive - acetone at one part per thousand
Bulbs replaced with LED's: all interior lights, front side lights, rear number plate lights, tail lights, brake lights.

Planned Mods: Full under-body belly pan (aluminium sheet?)
Small oil pan pre-heater.
Small gear box pre-heater.
Engine re-map (I'll try that once more.)
Blower motor control - replace resistors with PWM.
Remove entire Air Conditioning system.
Fit electric steering assist pump (so I can remove the accessory belt that currently drives alternator, A/C compresor and power steering pump)
Remove roof bars.
Complete alternator 'delete' with rear-mounted batteries.
Add fluorescent/relective band on front bumper for greater visibility and to reduce need for daytime lights.
Campaign for lower speed limits and for a nationwide network of public recharging points.
