Hi COcyclist, glad the heater pad work out for you.

I am still doing my 108 mile commute at least 5 days a week. I have been averaging about 80 MPG this winter because I have discontinued my extreme hypermiling and now drive at the posted speeds with only DWL as a ecomodder aid. Average speed is now 55 MPH per the MPGuino.

Today it got up to 75 degrees and I did the trip at 87 MPG, so maybe I can get my average up to 90 MPG this summer.

oh my... I really want to buy one of these... I will never get rid of my VX, but I like the Insight as well... I always thought it'd be cool to swap in a VX engine into an insight. I bet I could break 70mpg reasonably easy with that engine in it and nver have to deal with battery issues.

There's nothing magically electric about the Insight's engine. It can be run quite easily as gas-only.

Putting a D15Z1 in the Insight would fall under the category of a major performance mod though.

Indeed. It's relatively easy to remove the hybrid system and run it as a gasoline-only car.
