Aero model 1983

In '83 I thought parabolic leading forms were the bomb.

This is a chunk of wood. B pillar air intakes, radiator and air exhaust across the back, the idea being zero wake but yeah the under tray rises too steeply.

Adding/editing pics via iPhone is making me homocidal.

Your own work?

It looks cool, I like it a lot.

Ratio and proportion wise, 24" high wheels, eight foot wheelbase, this design is roughly 38 inches tall like the Ford GT 40 which is 40-inches tall.

Problem is the GT-40 (the original race car not the later Ford GT) is a larger car with the driver almost lying down with legs and feet up into the front suspension.

Even with the driver pushed as far back a possible (too far from the windshield for good optics and depth perception) with a small 4-cylinder FWD engine in the back, this design will need a sizable Gurney Bubble for anyone over five foot one. My wife should be able to fit in it though.

I like it, but I once had an experience in a design competition where the coolest looking cars broke the template and more or less cheated.

That would be like designing a building only midgets could inhabit, and not to code. Cool for filming a Hobbit movie but real life is a little more cruel.

I just added my pic via iPhone, just email the picture to yourself.

I have been working on a somewhat similar concept, a long fastback using the meredith effect to reduce the cooling system's influence on drag. And of course, a mid mounted inline sex engine...

Thanks Kach. Were I to redesign it today I'd keep a lot of it like the parabolas but fix the rear rise at the under tray, use slimmer tires w/o deep dish wheels, reproportion somewhat for practicality, etc. Overall I'm still basically pleased with it even after 34 years.

It was built around some 1/24 scale model car kit wheels.

Perhaps some Lamborghini Miura on the air intake, and some Bertone (Lancia-Stratos) elements.

I'm liking Frank Lee's design even more by comparing it to others.

In '95 I did too.

Braaaaap! Give it a 6 into 3 into 1 header.

OP's design would work well with a mid-rear longitudinal boxer.

The only inline six header I had seen in person was a dual 3 into 1 like my picture above. I was considering a 6-1, but it would be harder to get equal length tubes without taking up too much space.
