When some one comes out with some kind of crowd sourced pot hole uber it will take more than just shoveling driveway patch into the hole and calling it done if you want it to last more than a week.

Agreed.

That's why I called it performance art, and in permalink #3 I said
Quote:
Real Soon Now, someone will implement a smartphone app that fixes potholes, using crowd-sourcing or a bounty system.
Although anyone should be able to nominate a pothole, it would have to be evaluated to set the bounty. Then when it's triggered, the repairing entity would have to be graded or scored for quality assurance purposes.

Have you seen the companies that shore up subsiding foundations by injecting concrete into the ground under them? It might take a bolus of concrete under the hot patch to effect an adequate repair.

If you watch the The Thinkery video it makes that your point, mockingly.

Ha! The slumlord drives a red Ford F-250 so big he can't see his p*nis over it; and he almost ran over a kid on a bike. So the office sent a note around saying 'no bike riding' (and something else I forget).

He hasn't tried to stop me yet. So long as they keep taking my money, I'll keep ignoring them.

GPS is accurate enough to pin point individual pot holes.

I hadn't given this thread much thought, but then this is exactly how the system should work.

The country road my parents live on gets paved about every 3 years and painted yearly. I've never seen it have the slightest problem, so I wonder why they keep putting down a fresh surface at great expense when the road going past the capitol building is like a minefield.

Crowdsourcing infrastructure problems makes sense. The things that are in most need of repair/upgrade get first priority, and that sets the price and vetts the labor.

One way to incentivize people to act in their own best interests, is to game-ify it:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...trolled-by-you

This allows anyone anywhere to earn game points by cleaning up a river with a very sordid past.

How do I game-ify finding a job? How many points per contact, application, interview, and offer? I was hired almost three weeks ago, but I do not have any idea when I will start, except a coworker told me it took her four months.

How many points per push-up?
