It is small, but my son is also 6' tall. It's about 200 pounds wet.

It's got a decent frame, inverted forks, and sticky tires. On the right road, with the right rider, it would be hard to keep up with.

Sometimes it's quite surprising how a rather simple tuning and porting can lead to a great improvement to the performance of a 2-stroke.

Limited availability of replacement parts has been a concern here in Brazil too. I have already seen some Yamaha DT 180's retrofitted with Honda CG 125 engines and the owner of one of those told me his main motivation for that move was exactly this.

Change your final drive ratio by putting on a larger rear sprocket. Less top speed, and probably worse gas mileage, but you'll get more acceleration.

I have a 2010 YZ250. I love 2 strokes. Sound smell and simplicity.
I also have a 2 stroke powered snowmobile. A 580 ski doo double.

I like (and own several) old 2-strokes. They're horrendously dirty compared to modern 4-strokes but they don't get ridden that much so the guilt factor is pretty low. My T-500 gets reasonable gas mileage (as does my H1) but my H2 is horrible. It's ported pretty heavily though and I mostly use it for LSR these days.

If I understood correctly, KTM is bringing a direct-injected 2-stroke to market next year.

The problem had always been the oil, but nowadays it's been mostly solved due to the synthetic oils that can be used at a lower ratio, get better dilluted and then lead to a cleaner burn (they even decrease the spark plug fouling). There are always those Castor-based oils, renewable, biodegradable, and have a better dillution with the ethanol content currently added to the gasoline.
