On an Insight, I would use that technique only with a manual switch to activate the battery cooling fan. Insights are getting a reputation for letting their packs build up too much heat. I have that switch installed. :-)
If I had an Insight, I'd probably have a lot of switches in it! The Insight I'm borrowing even got a clutch switch!

Sheepdog,

I am bringing two, for the vehicle and my spotter/photographer. I'd be happy to bring you one!

If anyone else is interested, let me know. As well, I have an airbnb about eight minutes from the track. I do welcome ecomodders, but will need advance notice as I am charged per person. If it was a regular hotel I wouldn't care, but I want to be a good traveler lol, just let me know ASAP!

Definitely! Gasolinefumes and I could also relay info back to you. Will your spotter have a cool Weather Chopper code name?

"Eye in the sky Eagle 1, how is traffic on turn 1?"

"Eagle 1 to Black Stallion, the pattern is clear."

The walkie talkie idea is growing on me. Can it be set up so when any of us talks, the whole team hears it? You have enough for each car to have one?

How is the rain going to affect the race this year? Will they allow us on the track with more than a slight drizzle? Kinda concerned due to running my LRR set of potenzas. They passed NYS inspection today but not sure how much water pools up on the track.

That video! Holy crap! I'm wondering if the teams took a gamble on the weather and picked slicks over rain tires.

I'd hope the track drains well after the repave. I wouldn't expect any trouble at our speeds on tires with legal tread. I keep checking the forecast and it only seems to get worse.

There's a weather station at the track now:

Um, how about that forecasted snow on Friday afternoon?
Auto-X in the snow sounds challenging!

Local forecast is for precipitation in the form of snow with day time temperatures around 40 F. No chance of accumulation just a wet track so adjust tire pressures accordingly. Also it gets windy on top of the hill so dress warm.
