Here is my daily driver its a '99 RM Element with its 26x 1.25" street tread on.



I run the tires between 95 and 100 PSI , the shocks make the ride soft as ever even at that psi.

Where'd you put the rear brake? Under the bottom bracket?

I'm thinking of converting my 2006 P2C into a singlespeed, possibly fixed gear, to use around town, since I don't race on it anymore.

A new (to me) Kent Traveller folding bike. A co-worker gave it to me when the derailleur rusted shut and snapped in half...rather than just purchasing a new derailleur he decided to purchase an entirely new bike. Not that fond of derailleurs myself in this coastal salt air, I broke and shortened the chain, placed it on the third of five gears and made a nimble one-speed hill-climber out of it! Top speed no more than about 12MPH or so, but I can maintain that speed up moderate hills and slopes and stay fresh as a daisy doing it...

I do have a Sturmey-Archer internal 3-speed hub and shifter lying about-i'll probably build a nice 20" wheel around it later this month and see which configuration I prefer.

I am upgrading my Sturmey-Archer internal 3-speed hub by fitting two gears from a freewheel 13T and 16T to give a six speed set up with a 44T chain ring. Some work with the die grinder and a spacer for the narrower chain so all fit on the hub . A short derailleur and shifter work with the 3 spd lever. The key is to use gears that are 3 teeth apart.

Interesting. What makes 3t the magic combo? The ratio difference just plays well with the AW, or easy shifting, or...?

It is definitely the the gear spacing for the ratios. The internal gearing is 0.75, 1.00, and 1.33. If you want to use a double chain ring the spacing is 4 teeth (40/44T) for half step gearing or 10 teeth (40/50T) for the step and a half gearing. The idea is to get even spacing when plotting the gear-inch ratios on the natural log scale or a even percent increase progression.

It's a Schwinn Collegiate. I also have a lime-green Dyno with a springer front end. It's in storage because it's too long to fit the inside rack on the EMX bus.
