Chasing Cars

So I have my first car. My Civic EJ2. Let me just say that I love the thing. I realized that while standing next to it after a 2 week trip to Iceland. But I seem to be in some sort of a lookout for perfection.

One thing is that I want everything to be perfect. I want my car to not have rust. I want to ditch all the unnecessary interior for weight savings. I want everything to be clean and unworn. And I want to restore a car, make it like new.

The second thing is that of course I want to have my dream car. Which would have to be a CRX. Possibly with the d15z1 engine. Or maybe something else but most likely not the d16a9 that comes in most of the european CRX's.

The third part of the problem that my dreams might not be practical. Some of the cars I dream about are two-seaters. Or when I remove too much of my interior I risk not passing bi-yearly technical inspection.

But the reality is harsh. Things rust, break, and get dirty. And a CRX/d15z1 is much more expensive and rare than the EJ2 I can barely afford. My plans are of course to get better quality of life. I'm studying jewelry at the moment which people tell me is a profession with good perspective. And I will try to get a job after I finish school. But I have schizzoaffective disorder due to which I have a hard time attending school and I'm afraid of the same when I have a job.

So my dreams to restore and engine swap a CRX. But I have hurdles in the way. What do you say? Should I try to follow my dreams or should I get more realistic? I mean as good as some of my dreams sound to me I understand that it may be impractical to chase after them.

break your dreams down into measurable amounts or events.
Small accomplishments that lead to the big dream.

I had a 1966 mustang in 1975 (when I was 18). I was used and had 60k miles. It had some little dings and what not, but it was mine!!!
Yeah I wanted bigger and newer and better..
But I kept it spotless. Washed it every weekend. used armorall on the dash.
Always changed the oil every 3k miles.
That car made it thru 5.75 yrs of college!

My point is, always dream!!!
But have smaller achievable steps that lead your there.

Good Luck

How are you going to have it all original with some of the interior removed?

Perhaps I was unclear. When I said like new I didn't mean original. What I want to say is that I want it to be in mint condition but not necessarily as manufacturer intended. Meaning some things can be removed or modified. But they should be clean, rust free, unbroken, etc.
