I went to Honda-Tech and checked the postings for Brucepick and searched the civic forums and didn't find the code. Do you still have the code for doing this? If so, please post or PM me with the code.

ScanGauge:

Here's what's good about Scangauge for an HX:
1) You can program a ScanGauge XGauge to indicate LeanBurn. The cryptic procedure I'll put at the end of this post makes sense once you have the SG and the SG manual.

2) Throttle position (TPS) is key to getting it into LeanBurn and keeping it there. You can read TPS on the SG. If warmed up and weather is OK and the stars are properly aligned, TPS <20 will let it go into LB. If you go to TPS 32+, it will kick out of LB regardless of other conditions. TPS 30-31 is not always enough to maintain highway speed on a New England Interstate (hills and mountains) so it can be a challenge. If I recall, max TPS on my HX is 90.

XGauge procedure to set up LeanBurn indicator:
Use the code below to monitor lean burn with the scan gauge II
To Monitor Lean Burn, type in:
TXD 686AF10115
RXF 044105150000
RXD 2808
MTH 000100020000
NAM LBN
When it reads zero you're in LB.

Will that work for a G1 Insight?

I would think so, but there are others on this site who would know more about that.

I just added this to my SG manual (taped in) for both vehicles. Next to take the time to put in the code. Thank you for finding it for me.

Never bothered to pay for instrumentation besides the basics. They couldn't monitor lean burn or accurately predict gas mileage, so I didn't see a reason. Vacuum gauge is an accurate reading of throttle position and engine performance. Because of the low gearing on the hx trans I would see better mileage with higher shift points with less throttle, but I've seen contradictory statements from expert hypermilers, my drive is 100% city and below 55mph for the most part

I had a small volt meter hooked to the secondary oxygen sensor power wire to the ecu to monitor lean burn. Secondary voltage would read .00 in lean burn. This was in a 96 hx that is in my signature

Not currently doing any Hypermiling or gas savings techniques in my current red hx, cost me $14 for my last tank of gas so kind of lack motivation. It's also getting extremely poor mileage, 34mpg. Both axles are shot and who knows what kind of compression the motor has left in it. The other black 97 hx I had and sold recently was getting 38-38mpg city but it was a low mileage car with name brand eco tires

This is what $1300 gets you these days for a straight HX that for whatever reason has a re-upholstered interior.

I do mostly maintenence modifications to my cars. Adds to resale value for the most part

Nice update, hey. By maintenance mods you mean things like the aftermarket radiator and hoses and maybe the spark plug wires? Your old stuff wore out so you replaced with an upgrade?

Yep, maintenance items that are superior to factory installed pieces.

Where I live it is getting difficult to find factory civics with manual transmissions, they all tend to have alot of damage and need alot of work.

Usually after my maintenance mods my cars are not only more maintained than other civics, but visually you can see the amount of repairs the next owner will never have to perform. That usually results in a higher resale value
