You can rewrite the factory EVSE to use 220. Check out YouTube for a guide.
I use a 220 clipper creek at home, and carry the factory 120 with me.

2013 + Volt EVSEs are easy to wire for dual voltage but a duosida is dual voltage and 16 amp rated from the factory for $160 shipped

I think I'll just modify my current cord. The cost of a new cord would negate any savings by plugging in at work for years to come

That will be the cheapest route to take and the You tube video was pretty explicit. I think I can follow along with it and make it happen, it looks easier than the kill switch was on the Insight

On the way to work this morning I used 3.6 kWh, the lowest usage I have recorded so far for the 19.05 mile trip. Normally I use between 3.7 and 4.1 on the morning commute, but on Saturday at 5:30 in the morning I can really hypermile it

If my math is correct it equals about 178 mpg

Blew my previous best mpg efforts right out of the water this morning on the way to work! I just set the bar at 194 mpg, so it's going to be tough for me to top that one

There was very light traffic and I was able to hypermile the entire way (well, with the AC on Eco mode and fan speed on its lowest setting for half the drive in, so I could have done a little better).

I drove 19 miles and it still has a 31 mile range for the trip home. The Volt is a pretty amazing car!

I see I need to pump the tires up a bit

I'm gonna have to ask you to stop posting such positive things about your Volt. My Prius is a perfectly adequate car and I shouldn't have to deal with you shaming me into upgrading. :P

That works out to 174wh/mi, which is pretty impressive for a ~4000lb car. My ebike plus me weighed under 200lb and used about 30wh/mi. Ebike is much more efficient per person with a single occupant, but the 43.5wh/mi per person you'd be getting with 4 people in the car plus some AC is pretty sweet.

So I did this to the Volt last night . . .

I was mowing over some branches in my yard mulching them up like I've done many times in the past and one of the thicker ones shot across the yard and BAM! Right in the driver's door

Guess I'm going to find out how close the paint shop can get to "Viridian Joule"
