Cracked exhaust manifold on 98 hx

I have read that the D series (96-00) have issues with the exhaust manifold cracking. I think mine just did as well but haven't had the time to check it yet. My ultragauge is also telling me that I have a p1164 code (o2 sensor). I did some researching and read on a different forum that 98hx's have a glitch in the ECU that may cause o2 sensor to go bad soon again. So, I have a few questions you guys might be able answer.

#1 what is a good aftermarket exhaust manifold brand I can buy for my car that will be similar to my OEM manifold?

#2 does anyone else know about the bad ecu that needs to be replaced from the A-32 to the A-33 ecu?

Unless its a cast manifold, and even then, it may be a lot easier and cheaper to just have it repaired (or repair it yourself) by a welder. I did this with my 02 Civic's cracked manifold.

I replaced a cracked manifold on my wife's '98 EX. I believe I got the replacement from an O'Reilly's auto parts store. Don't remember the brand but it was labeled as a direct replacement and it fit perfectly.

Daox, it has been a while, but when I was searching related to the cracked manifold I remember several people saying that welding didn't hold up too well or for very long.

Hi what you need to is find someone who can do cold metal stitching. Probably at an engineering that has some older skilled workers.

Is a repair with Araldite totally out of question?

What header did you end up going with? I know if you convert a hx header to and ex you need to re locate the cat and o2 sensor and get an o2 extension harness

I would not use a header. For the lean burn to work properly, the cat needs to be very close to the engine's exhaust ports. Not sure on the HX but the VX cat was only inches away from the ports.

I was going to mention Doax's repair, wonder how long it lasted?

Old Mech is right. Unless the aftermarket mimics the OEM design, it will likely have consequences for lean burn. I think this has been discussed on this forum before, but I am not certain. I hope it has all worked out well for you, thougn.
