We have 2 cars (my wife's 2011 Pilot and my 2000 Frontier), 3 motorcycles (my wife's 2008 CF Moto V3, my 2006 Ninja 250, and my 1981 CM400e), and 2 bicycles.

Hoarding cheap, old vehicles is a lot easier and more necessary since the parts are less available and more likely to be needed.

Punisher, at least in the US you don't have to register and insure anything unless you drive it on a public road, even then, most states base the cost of the registration on the age of the vehicle. In Iowa, where I am, it's only $50 per standard passenger vehicle per year after they're over 12 years old. Motorcycles are only $10/vehicle/year for 6+ year old bikes and $20/year for newer bikes.

WOW, my Starlet is 18 years old and like I said it costs ~550USD for rego every year to drive it on the road. This goes for cars of any age and size, so my 18 year old 1800lb Starlet costs the same for rego as a 2016 Hummer! However, this high fee does cover hospital/rehabilitation costs (TAC charge) in the event of a crash for anyone involved in a vehicle accident no matter if you have insurance or not. So there is communal benefit for the unfortunate people who of no fault of their own suffer severe injury requiring expensive rehabilitation of which they don't have to pay anything.
I Just wish we could at least get somewhat cheaper rego for smaller vehicles or vehicles producing less emissions.

For the three vehicles in out fleet, the registration is $30 (per car) per year for the plate, $12 a year for our state inspection, and they'll only update registration if all property taxes have been paid...

Got rid of the Ford Escape today.. Now own a RAV4..
Found a plastic tube inside the glove box..

Anybody know what this thing is??
On the left end, it has a pull-ring. It looks like the yellow cap will pop off..
Maybe I should pull the ring.. See if it's a grenade?

Yes. It is a thing that holds up the glove box when opened (glove box damper). There should be a couple plastic parts on the right outside of the glove box that it attaches to. Those parts are easily broken and the dealer/repair site just throws that part in the glove box rather than own up to their breakage and doing the repair. I chose to not make the repair on the Tacoma. I'll add a video that shows where it is located on the side of the glove box on the Tacoma.

Thanks Jog

I would have never figured that out on my own..
Only when the time came to change the filter.
Then I would have watched a DIY video on YT.

I took out the glove box, snapped in the 'air-piston', extended the piston shaft and clipped it on..
The box lowers very smooooothly now.

There was a VW shop in Rickreall, OR, that kept a boneyard out back, with lots of complete and not-so-complete vehicles.

Polk County told them they had to turn over the stock every six months. Dirty rotten racken-frackers.

I got a nice set of jalousie camper windows out of it. Maybe they'll go in a teardrop trailer some day.

About $120 a year for registration in Ontario. Insurance (basic liability, like yours) is the problem: ~$650 a year. Ontario is expensive, which is why I only ever have active coverage on one car at a time.
