The Virtual Beetle Museum is gone

There's some sort of honeypot on Facespook, but you can still see it at the Wayback Machine

Ignore the snapshots after 2008.

Just to keep on topic: Euro-spec Volkswagen L80 truck, but this one I spotted in Porto Alegre

That's an old Ford pickup bed on the Vdub, or more specifically the sides of the bed attached. But had they made that setup for real I bet it would have been a better seller than those funky fold down bed side pickups.

This one appears to have airplane rear tires - weird!

The 50 Ford pickup bed is a good fit because the Type II has a ladder frame about that width. The fenders are pushed 'way back and that's probably a hinge line in the bed.

Airplane tires are what people had, back in the day. Note the vintage of the pickup trucks in the background.

I like the F-bomb. Mainly for the tow hook; but — the driver gets a forced air respirator, but the (inline four?) engine gets a bug-catcher?

I watched a Youtube video that was in German, but it sounded like the New Beetle is getting end-of-lifed. Youtube reminded me of Julia's Fatality:

Checking for fuel leaks. Then Youtube pointed me to a video with very similar production and music, Sofies 63:

Those dropside beds were actually a strong sales argument back in the day.

Yeah, how else are you going to carry your open-wheel Porsche race car?

What you're looking at here is one of the only Porsche-factory supported single-seat race cars that you could actually buy. Well, "you" meaning some hypothetical rich you. It's also the only Porsche factory-tuned and supported VW Type 2 truck and Formula Vee car around, and it's incredible.

In reply to above - That is pretty cool.

I'm at a mismatch of images copied from the AZN media source. So these are all random, or more random than the previous images....

This one I think is a chevy luv bed? Or made a Datsun? I'm not sure.
