Shapeways.com kicked back my emblem order for some design alterations that are needed for the emblems to be produced by their process. I made some of the walls too thin. I know what I'll be doing on the CAD system next week.

Revised CAD models sent off to Shapeways.com today. Let's see if they like them this time!

If all goes well, I should have parts in my hands about January 21st.

Since this was the big thread for 2016 and I rarely read or contribute to anything not pickup or RV related, I want the thank those who brought this thread more attention.

Helluva job, Bill!

I remember 1979 pretty well as I was a junior in college. So the muscle car era isn't filtered for me by the flamekeepers. Hell, the cop cars were faster. And had bigger gas tanks.

That car was an I can't believe my wife let me keep it rust bucket. The pics aren't kidding. We all walked past cars like these in the junkyards. Convertibles are nearly always a disaster. Couldn't give them away once upon a time. 1 of 300 wouldn't matter.

This second life is a beautiful fate. And I like that the nose will be lengthened. Short rear deck and long hood is very 1960s. As my old man used to say, "No story is so good that a coat of varnish won't help".

In this instance of Christian re-birth, the sins of the old are washed away, and the heart of a true (car) believer is revealed.

Fidelity, my man. You've got it.

Looking for hybrids in old vehicles, and came across this gem of a thread. I've made it to the rockers lining up. I'm definitely going to keep reading, and keep an eye of this thread. Great work Bill!

They have arrived!

These are made out of 3D printed Stainless Steel infused with Bronze and then Nickel Plated. The next step is to have them Chrome Plated. Then the center of the letters will be painted red in the same way that Pontiac did the original "326" emblems.

Excellent! Will the infusion of bronze fill the pores characteristic of printed parts, making it possible to grind the edges smooth for mirror-finish plating?

The rough nature of printed parts pushed me to a waterjet for the Karmann Eclectric emblems.
Karmann Eclectric: Taking a shine to that name.
