Somebody at work today suggested that I should have converted an old Pinto to a hybrid instead of my Firebird.

Uh, ... no.

It actually would make some sense if you were looking to keep all that brand-loyalty deal and finding a way to shoehorn everything from a Fusion hybrid into it

By now they might be mostly teased by the upcoming hybrid F-150.

Don't you mean the hybrid Mustang?

Expect hybrid options pretty much across the board in the next decade or so.

I didn't mean the hybrid Mustang, even though it's also quite obvious to come along a hybrid F-150. Well, something that actually did surprise me is the absence of a current generation Escape Hybrid.

Nowadays I'm quite convinced that in 10 or 15 years the majority of the brand-new cars to be available in the U.S. and Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Western Europe, Japan, China and South Korea are going to feature some sort of hybrid system, either full or mild. The pick rate for automatics in the U.S., Canada, Japan and more recently Australia already seems to justify the Toyota's approach with the HSD, while the simpler BAS-Hybrid might be arelatively cheap and easy-to-implement upgrade to lower-end models as long as idle shut-off becomes more widespread even in 3rd-world markets like Brazil

I listened to a program on Public Radio about the clean air rules in Europe will pretty much doom the diesel gas engine cars in 5 years.

I see the only option being Hybrid or electric. Would like to see improvements in the Hybrid technology, maybe a SkyActive Hybrid?

Even though the whole world seems to be in a hurry to replace regular gasoline and Diesel fuel, I don't believe in strict measures against all the vehicles with internal-combustion engines to happen so soon.

It actually did surprise me that Mazda is not so focused on hybrid technologies.

Today's purchase. $50 USD for the pair. New ones cost $250.00 each. They're not perfect, but are plenty good enough to make the extensions for my fenders.

In Japan Mazdas are available with Mazda engines and Toyota's HSD.
