And since most supercars are now fitted with either automatic or automated-manual transmissions, which have been more suitable for hybrid vehicles than manuals, the transition from a mere tree-huggers' deal into something more acceptable even among customers who didn't really care about that "sustainability" marketing approach and eventually objected to that as taking away most of the pleasure in the driving experience. Well, some 5 years ago I was much more unfavorable to hybrids, but nowadays it wouldn't surprise me to see Toyota replacing most of its conventional automatic transmissions with the HSD system...

Does London still levy the congestion charge on ALL 4x4 or AWD vehicles, even ones that are the size of a Smart Car? Top Gear test drove such a car and had to pay the congestion charge despite its size, because it was all wheel drive and therefore put into the same category as trucks.

There's nothing like government stupidity.

I had forgotten about the Escape hybrid in particular. I'm chalking that up to age and any whippersnapper that wants to challenge me on it can debate it with me while I change the battery in my hearing aid.

I'm standing by my statement regarding the shape of the Prius however.

Late as usual but Happy Birthday Ecomodder. I haven't been here from the beginning but a long time. It's been a great place to learn, make new aquaintances, and help a little along the way.

Me too. I must confess I was quite skeptical at first, but then I figured out it's better than I expected.
