Actually, give me a manual any day.
No it will hit stateside, but as I stated it could be in the 2yrs. They are trying to push the turbo setups to every part of the country, which is good because it would be less money configuring different engine setups for differnet countries and additional funds to R&D for better improvements that might be needed elsewhere. I'm very interested the new civic type r turbo 5dr hatch. If they bring one stateside that will answer my questions.

how do you figure the VSS speeds? i'm curious as to which final drive gear will run with the lowest highway rpm and still fit into my d15b with a manual lx (granny)tranny!!

The insight hybrid 00-06 final drive gear of 3.208 should work well with my stock 5th gear 0.702 for my goal of staying below 2500 rpm at 70 mph on the highway ,I think. GOTTA STAY IN LEAN BURN ON THE HIGHWAY!!!!!!

Thanks in advance to any and all who may reply!

Who told you a hybrid transmission gear will fit your lx tranny? Have you looked into the the vx tranny or CX tranny.

read a lot of confusing stuff, just got my motor and all to hit lean burn, and I must have skipped it. Thanks! would you know offhand if the final drive alone will get my 70mph cruise below 2500 rpm?

these guys have a cool tranny calculator tool...

(i can't post a link yet, but it's f-body.org/gears )

figured out that with stock lx tranny and gearing ( including .702 fifth gear ) , changing my final drive to the VX's final drive of 3.25 will make my 70 mph come out to 2350 rpm (assuming 205/50/15 tires) in fifth gear. thanks again, tony_2018 for a kick in the right direction!!

will the final drive fit my pinion is the next question. I'll read up on it and post back, unless anybody else want to kick me?!?!?

Just get the vx tranny or an hx tranny. If you are technically incline to take apart a tranny than change out the final drive with an hx tranny. Truthfully it would be easier to source an hx tranny and get a rebuild kit for it.

205mm wide tires will KILL mpg from the aero and rolling resistance along. Just switching tires alone may yield better gains than swapping FD's.

Use this Honda tranny calc, I know all the D series ratios for 89-2000 are correct.

ok.great!! thanks to you both for your input. i'm going to try and find the final drive gear, then. The tranny is no problem for me to open it back up and swap out the final drive gear, just didn't want to get it all apart and find out that I had the wrong parts, or wrong ratios for my application :-)

As far as tire size, those were just generic numbers- didn't want to go outside and look at my tires in the cold and dark (spooky). 14" steelies now, actual size rubber is 185/65/r14 so 70 mph would actually be 2300 rpm, and lower when i get my pretty wheels and tires!

I rebuilt this tranny about 6000 miles ago, when I did my manual conversion. all new bearings and seals($120- ebay) and lsd block (about $120 - ebay). Getting the final drive installed sounds like it might be easier than finding one. LOL

thanks again to all involved, looks like i'm on the hunt for part numbers now ;-)

Update: I think I've finally found the correct part number for the VX/CX tranny's final gear, with the 3.25 ratio: 41233-PL3-A00 Can anybody confirm or deny my findings, please?

If this is the correct part number, it's a real bear to find one online. so far the best price I could find for all my digging around online is here: CIVIC SEDAN : GEAR, FINAL DRIVEN | 1998 Honda OEM Parts @ Honda Parts Cheap

not cheap at $172.50 delivered, but i do plan on keeping this little car running for quite a while, so as long as it's the right part, ok.

How about a part number for the output shaft to the vechicle speed sensor? can anybody point me to the appropriate diagrams please?

I'll put up more info as I find it. Thanks.
